The Fullness of Love

God shows his love for us in that while we were yet
sinners, Christ died for us...if while we were enemies
we were reconciled to God by the death of his son,
much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be
saved by his life. Rom 5:8, 10

Christmas break of 1967, eighteen thousand college
students gathered together at Urbana IL to look at
mission opportunities; to be challenged "to go." I was
one of those students. The highlight for me was the
singing of the old hymns in harmony as the music
echoed off walls and ceilings. The theme hymn was
"Oh, The Deep Deep Love of Jesus." This morning I
woke up singing it and I want to share it with you.

O the deep deep love of Jesus,
Vast, unmeasured, boundless, free;
Rolling as a mighty ocean in its fullness over me.
Underneath me, all around me,
Is the current of Thy love;
Leading onward, leading homeward,
To my glorious rest above.

O the dee, deep love of Jesus,
Spread His praise from shore to shore;
How He loveth, ever loveth,
Changeth never, never more;
How He watches o'er His loved ones,
Died to call them all His own;
How for them He intercedeth,
Watcheth o'er them from the throne.

Love of every love the best;

O the deep, deep love of Jesus,
'Tis a Heav'n of Heav'ns to me;
And it lifts me up to glory,
For it lifts me up to Thee.
