Every Man's Work

...if any man build upon this foundation gold,
silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stable; Every
man's work shall be made manifest: for the day
shall declare it...  I Corinthians 3:12-13a

The only power God recognizes in His church is the
power of His Spirit whereas the only power actually
recognized today by the majority of evangelicals is
the power of man. God does His work by the opera-
tion of the Spirit, while Christian leaders attempt to
do theirs by the power of trained and devoted intel-
lect. Bright personality has taken the place of divine
anointing.

Everything that men do in their own strength and by
means of their own abilities is done for time alone;
the quality of eternity is not in it. Only what is done
through the Eternal Spirit will abide eternally; all
else is wood, hay, stubble.

Placed under the glass of my dressing table as I was
growing up was this:
"Only one life, 'twill soon be past, only what's done
through Christ will last."
My Dad pulled it out and wrote: "Amen! Dad"
