Where are we on God's clock? Is it possible to know
just how late it is? YES, it is. And, yes, I keep coming
back to this subject as I read new material.
If you want to know where we are in terms of the end
times, then you must look first at the Jewish people and
Jerusalem. Why? Because from God's point of view,
this city is at the center of the earth. Consider what has
taken place or will take place here.
This is where King David ruled from
This is where Jesus died on the cross
It was here that the church was born
This is where the anti-Christ will set up his throne
It is here that Jesus will reign for 1,000 years
Below are eight prophecies that have been fulfilled to
the letter:
1-- Israel will return to the land
"Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your
children from the east and gather you from the west.
I will say to the North, 'Give them up,' and to the south,
'Do not hold them back.' Bring my sons from afar and
my daughters from the end of the earth." (Isaiah 43:6)
In 70AD the Jews were scattered but in just the last
century millions of Jews have returned to their land
fulfilling this prophecy. When would they return? In
the last days.
2-- Israel would become a nation again
"In that day the Lord will bring back a remnant of his
people for the second time, returning them to the land
of Israel." Is 11:11
For 2,000 years the Jews were without land promised to
them in the fifteenth chapter of Genesis. (It was an un-
conditional covenant that was not based on obedience.)
All that changed abruptly 70 years ago on May 14, 1948.
In 1967 the Jews recaptured Jerusalem against all odds!
3 Israel would be brought forth in a day
"Who has every heard of anything as strange as this?
Has a nation ever been born in a single day? Has a
country ever come forth in a mere moment? By the
time Jerusalem's birth pangs begin, the baby will be
born, the nation will come forth." Is 66:8
In May 14th, 1948 at exactly 4PM the members of
The People's Council signed the proclamation: 'The
state of Israel is established. This meeting has ended.'
The prophecy was fulfilled exactly 2500 years after it
was given to Isaiah.
4 Israel would be united again
"I will gather the people from among the nations. I will
bring them home to their own land from places they
have been scattered. I will unify them into one nation
in the land..."
In 926BC the Northern Kingdom was taken away by the
Assyrians and the Jews were not brought back together
until Israel became a nation 70 years ago, for the first
time in 2900 years. Israel's becoming a nation is a signal
that we are living in the last days.
5--Israel's currency would be a shekel
"The standard unit for weight will be the silver shekel...
This is the tax you must give the prince. Ez 45:12, 16
In context this verse refers to the temple that will be
built in the Millennium. Israel's currency was originally
the pound but this was changed to the shekel in 1980.
6--Israel would blossom like a rose in the desert
"Even the wilderness will rejoice in those days, the
desert will blossom with flowers... Is 35:1
My Dad flew over the land during WWII and he had
nothing good to say about it--all dry barren tree-
less wasteland. It fell into desert like conditions after
the Jews were scattered in 70AD. But today? Today
Israel exports flowers and vegetables all over the world.
I hear that the wine made from the grapes grown there
is incredibly good!
7--Israel would have a powerful military
"On that day I will make the leaders of Judah like a
fire pot in a woodpile, like a flaming torch among
sheaves. They will consume right and left all the
surrounding peoples, but Jerusalem will remain intact
in her place. Zech 12:6
Outnumbered against all odds, the Israeli forces have
astounded the world by their victories over and over again
during multiple wars. The day after Israel became a nation
she was attacked by Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and
Iraq--total population of these nations, 20 million. Israel
had less than one million residents. They had few guns,
ammunition or tanks. What a miracle!
8--Israel would be a center of conflict to the whole world
"I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the
surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as
well as Jerusalem. On that day, when all the nations of
the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem
an immovable rock for all nations. All who try to move
it will injure themselves." Zach 12:2,3
What is going on today? Almost daily the land of Israel,
but especially Jerusalem is front page news--most of it
negative. The UN has been regularly passing resolutions
against Israel for years. It is a little sliver of land about
the size of New Jersey.
Reader, go back over the eight prophecies--and there are
several more regarding the Temple Mount and the build-
ing of a new Temple--that were fulfilled exactly as
predicted. What are the odds?
Now if all these prophecies have come to pass then what
about all the prophecies that are pending in our day?
What time is it? It is the time to become serious about
what God is asking of us and to walk faithfully every day.
It is the time to get busy sharing God's love and pro-
vision with others. If you have never asked Jesus to take
away your sins and to come and reside within you, now
would be a good time.
I have summarized very briefly the first chapter of
The Final Countdown by Pastor Billy Crone. He covers
current events in light of the coming tribulation and
meticulously documents just how close we are. You
can find it on Amazon.
