Fear of What?

Something has shifted since we celebrated the New Year
some four weeks ago. Not just here in America but all
over the world. Can you feel it? There is a sense of fear
and anxiety over what is to come. Christians are not
exempt.

'Thou shalt fear the Lord Thy God, and serve him...
Ye shall not go after other gods' (Deut 6:13,14)

What we fear is what we worship. In the verse above
God is admonishing the people to fear Him, to honor
Him, not some powerless idol. It is interesting to
note that other religions are run by gods who demand
obedience and keep their adherents in bondage through
fear. We have traveled to other parts of the world, been
to the temples, and watched the worshippers who
through fear of death are continually in bondage to
that which cannot give them life.

David said, 'The Lord is my light--He overcomes
the darkness--and my salvation--to escape fear and
oppression. (Ps 27:1)

John says this about Jesus: 'In him was life; and the
life was the light of men. (Jn 1:4)

Jesus says of Himself: '...I am the light of the world:
he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but 
shall have the light of life.' (Jn 8:12)

Reader, Jesus is our hope in the midst of coming
darkness. Spend time with Him. Get to know Him.
He is the only light.
He is your life!
